GIRL SCOUT COUNCIL OF WYOMINGFamily FolderInformation for Parents and Adults2005 Family Partnership CampaignThe Family Partnership Campaign provides an opportunity for the families of our Girl Scouts to demonstrate their support for the organization that puts their daughter’s needs and interests first. All donations stay right here in our Council and will be used to directly support girls and the programs for them. All gifts are tax-deductible as charitable contributions. Family Partnership Questions and AnswersGirls pay the $10 registration fee. Why do you need the Family Partnership Campaign? All of the $10.00 membership is sent directly to Girl Scouts of the USA which provides development of programs and accident insurance for each girl. The operational cost to serve one girl annually is $250. Doesn’t the cookie sale give us all the money we need? The annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale provides about 64% of the funds necessary to operate the Council. United Way support represents about 4%. Girl Scouts of the USA recommends that the remainder of GSCW funding be generated by adults. We are currently at about 10% and would like to steadily increase adult support each year . My daughter is in a troop and I give her money for what she needs. Why do you need more? Money given to the troop supports specific troop activities. Troop monies are not used for the services provided by the operational budget. GSCW services include training, support of volunteers, communications, camp & property maintenance, insurance, The Girl Scout Shop, professional offices and staff. Additional Program OpportunitiesProgram options listed below are open to all Girl Scouts. Some events are limited by age-level. Event locations are different for each event. If your daughter is interested in attending, contact her leader or for more information contact the Girl Scout Council of Wyoming Program Department at 1-800-359-0227, or visit the Program Section of our web site. Day CampingCamping by the day or camping within a 12-hour program day. Girls from different groups sign up as individual campers and are placed in temporary groups (units). The girls and unit staff plan and carry out activities. Day camping is council-sponsored (requires council approval to operate), and the council provides the staff, facilities, and site. Resident CampingA camping experience in which the campers live at an established site. Girls from different groups sign up as individual campers and are placed in units (temporary groups). The girls and their counselors or leaders plan activities taking advantage of the resources available at the campsite. The council sponsors resident camping and provides total staff, facilities, and site. Troop/Group CampingA camping experience of 24 or more consecutive hours, planned and carried out by a group of Girl Scouts and group leaders, using council-approved sites. The Cost of Girl ScoutingRegistration...Each girl pays a $10.00 annual membership fee to be a Girl Scout. The fee includes accident insurance that covers participation in Girl Scout activities. Leaders and other adults helping with troop programs also pay the membership fee. The cost for the Council to provide Girl Scouting to your daughter is $250.00. Your support of our Family Partnership and the Cookie Program is appreciated. Troop Dues...The girls and the leaders decide the amount of troop dues and how often they are paid. Dues and the troop’s share of the Cookie Program revenue are used for troop activities, projects and supplies. Troop Dues can range from $.50 to $1.00 per meeting. Leaders may ask you to pay yearly dues at the beginning of the year. Funding Daisy Troops...Daisy Girl Scouts do not handle money or sell cookies. Parents are responsible for meeting the costs of any activity, purchase of badges, books, uniforms and insignia. Troop Dues can range from $1.00 to $2.00 per meeting. Leaders may ask you to pay yearly dues at the beginning of the year. The Girl Scout UniformA uniform is not required for participation in Girl Scout activities. Members of the Girl Scout organization are readily identified by the Girl Scout pin. Uniforms come in mix-and-match sets. You do not need all the pieces. Please plan to purchase either a sash or a vest to place your daughter’s earned recognition's on. Your daughter’s leader will recommend a standard piece for all girls to wear to meetings and outings. If you would like a copy of the Girl Scout Catalog - please call the Girl Scout Shop at 1-800-359-0227. Your Daughter's TroopGirl Scouts is a volunteer led organization.
