Events and Training: Lego Robotics

Have you ever dreamed of building a robot? Dreamed of learning how to program a robot? Dreamed you had the chance to control a robot? Here is your opportunity to have your dreams come true! Register by January 15th, 2009 to be a part of this exciting hands on Lego Robotics event. This event will combine the enjoyment of building with Legos and the technical components of computer programming into a fun opportunity to build and control your own team’s robot! Girls in grades 6 through 12 will work in teams to build a robot and then program the robot to complete a “Can-Do Team Challenge”. The challenge will be to have the robot move cans outside a circle as quickly and efficiently as possible. Participants will learn basic programming techniques, including the use of specific functions. Participants will also be encouraged to use “trial and error” as a way of developing critical thinking skills. Quinn Holzer, a 4-H extension agent in Lewis and Clark County will be providing the Lego Robotics materials and hosting the event. Register now as space is limited!
